Interview: Daigo Kusunoki, Founder/CEO of SOUNDRAW

Founded by Daigo Kusunoki, SOUNDRAW is an innovative AI-powered beat-making platform that enables artists to experiment and incorporate AI into their creative process, whether they're producing from their bedroom or at the recording studio. SOUNDRAW uses pre-licensed sounds in training AI, enabling the users to not worry about copyright issues.

SOUNDRAW recently collaborated with French Montana on the track “Ride the Wave”, which appears on his new “Mac & Cheese 5” album, the first among several artist collabs on the way, showing the royalty-free beat-making platform’s popularity with some of today’s top artists.

We had the opportunity to connect with Daigo for an in-depth interview to discuss the platform’s creation, how the “Ride the Wave” collaboration came about, their goals moving forward, and much more.

Congratulations on the growth and success of SOUNDRAW thus far. What initially sparked the inspiration in you to create the platform and why is generative music such an important component of it?

I love dancing and music but I can't compose music at all because it's difficult to compose music. One day, I was so inspired when I knew there was some technology for music creation. Also, in recent years I realized video creation has become easier to use but music creation is not, because it's necessary to have knowledge of music theory.

The demand for royalty-free music is increasing, but creating music is difficult, so I think music generation AI will be an innovative tool for creators and artists.

We're blown away by the song “Ride The Wave", which appears on French Montana's new album "Mac & Cheese 5", and was created with SOUNDRAW. How did this musical collaboration come together, and what were French's impressions of the platform?

One day, a guy living in NYC contacted me about working together because he is really interested in the AI music area. He knows a friend of French Montana living in the Bronx, and he connected me to him. He and French were so surprised when I showed them the SOUNDRAW demo. They are very flexible-minded and open to new technology, which made this great collaboration possible. I am grateful to everyone involved in this project.

Along with French Montana, Fivio Foreign and Trippie Redd are also mainstream artists who have used SOUNDRAW to create incredible music. Why is SOUNDRAW the perfect tool for artists and music producers to create music that stands out from the crowd?

We are focusing on the AI tracks without vocals because we are here supporting creators and artists, not taking jobs. It is most important that you can generate high-quality songs and customize them for AI music products. We have confidence that SOUNDRAW is the best quality music and intuitive UI/UX.

What are some of your goals for the SOUNDRAW platform moving forward as AI technology takes a stronger foothold in the music industry?

Our vision is to "Unleash your creativity with AI music". We hope to grow into the world's most loved AI music tool and support the creative activities of many creators and artists.

Tell us about the artist partnerships that SOUNDRAW is establishing, and what you look for in the creatives that you collaborate with.

We’ve conducted these collaborations because we wanted to show new creative possibilities by creating music together with AI-generated beats and human artists.
