NN Music Song of the Week: “Go Get Her” by Shreta, Featuring Phabo

Hailing from Melbourne, Australian-born South Indian R&B artist Shreta releases a stunning new single ‘Go Get Her’ featuring Phabo.

Navigating the listener through her journey with her infectious silky vocals, Shreta begins to unravel her trials between doing what she wants and living without inhibitions. ‘Go Get Her’ is exactly that, a song about expressing freedom, going after what you want, and choosing to be your authentic self with a loved one.

Her ability to keep you captivated is unsurpassed through-out the song, which is coupled by soothing rich vocals supplied by American rising R&B star, Phabo.

On what Shreta wants people to take away from the song, she said, “I want people to have fun listening to it, whether they’re listening at home or in their car with friends. I want it to be an introduction to all the music that I have coming up this year and the sense of freedom that I had when creating it. I hope people will relate to that feeling,”

It is also inspired by not feeling the need to be out at every party, but instead spending quality time with someone special,

Carving her own melodic lane, Shreta’s South Asian heritage adds a subtle nuance to her melody and cadence choices. Her pen-game is fresh and powerful with catchy punchlines that are playful and adult themed in equal measure.

Shreta signed with The Heavy Group (Bazzi, Kiana Ledé, Jay Sean) in early 2021 and has been working with top-notch producers in Los Angeles on her next batch of releases, starting with the hard hitting yet playful “Go Get her” featuring R&B rising start Phabo. Produced by Mike Hector (Doja Cat, Kendrick Lemar) Max & Kyle (Travis Scott, Tinashe) and written by herself.

Shreta’s feelings about being a female South Asian artist are strong. She wants to make it clear to others like her that you can make whatever kind of music you want to make and that being limited by what others might think is an idea of the past. She prides herself on stepping forward into the light and leading the way for other artists who might feel like haven’t been able to be authentically themselves just yet.
