NN Song of the Week: “Lucid Nightmares” by TY'O
“Lucid Nightmares”, our latest NN Song of the Week, comes to us from Madison, WI based multi genre music producer, songwriter, composer, audio engineer, and multi-instrumentalist Thomas O'Shea, aka TY’O.
TY’O’s love for music began at a very young age, with piano. He took interest in the keyboard at the age of 5 and started lessons at age 6. Soon after, he started to sing. Having performed many different genres, TY’O is knowledgeable in many different styles of music spanning from classical to hip hop, pop to alternative and more.
Speaking about his new release, TY’O says “Lucid Nightmares is a conversation with my demons. Verse one I speak to my demons- you can tell with the lines "I can't keep the dark thoughts away aye aye aye, I'm a visitor in my own brain brain Brian" and "You get comfortable but please don't stay stay stay stay" because I don't want them to be there but I know that they will stay as long as they want. The hook is a description of what's happening- you can tell with the lines "hell loop here we go again, in the dark hello old friend". I say this because this has happened before and I, therefore, know my demons. Verse 2 the demons finally speak to me. They whisper and taunt and try to break me. They even call me by name and bring up my mistakes without truly saying them. "so common common Thomas, whatchu wanna do? F*cked up one good thing, so you'll make it two..."
