The Casey Smith Project Release Their Single/Video “Red Carpet”
The Casey Smith Project (CSP) are an indie-rock trio based in Fairbanks, Alaska, founded by Casey Smith. Originally formed in 2016, CSP’s love of tape delay and modulated synthesizers has remained constant throughout their exploration of different sounds and styles–melodic compositions that are both dreamy and danceable, laboriously combining lo-fi indie grooves with classic pop.
“Red Carpet” is the first single off the upcoming album, “Red Lights and Whiskey”, which includes songs written and recorded over a year and a half period. This all done during the pandemic at Wattage Studios in Anchorage, Alaska, by the local analog wizard himself, Chad Reynvaan, and mastering by Derek Haukaas.
Speaking about the inspiration behind “Red Carpet”, Casey says,“I had an argument with someone; it sucked—I felt bullied and taken advantage of. Somehow I took the high road and managed to write a song about it. Why is it that every time it rains, it pours and feels all the same?”
If you love vintage Mac Demarco keyboards, unpolished Modest Mouse hooks, driving Viagra Boys bass lines and Al Green soulful melodies, then “Red Carpet” is the single/video for you.
