Hangout Details Live Fan Listening Parties Feature With Artists
Hangout by Turntable Labs, Inc. is a new virtual listening community connecting users through music discovery and curation with access to over 100 million tracks, including licensed content from Sony, Universal, Warner, and Merlin. The launch has been featured in The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Engadget, Music Business Worldwide and Digital Music News among many others. Hangout is also bringing fans face-to-face with their favorite artists, transforming fan engagement. With real-time chat, music, audio, and video capabilities, the platform creates a personal connection between artists and fans. Fans can join virtual rooms with top artists to hear exclusive music debuts, participate in Q&A sessions, and enjoy curated playlists, all while directly supporting the artists they love.
Artists including SOFI TUKKER (celebrating their Bread album release with r/popheads on Discord), Greta Van Fleet (for their single and video “Meeting The Master”), Cage the Elephant (with their Neon Pill album), and Girl in Red (promoting I’m Doing It Again Baby!) have already hosted live Hangout fan events, answering questions and sharing insights into their creative process. It has the music industry buzzing: Patrick Boyle, Q-Prime for Greta Van Fleet, says it “has brought tremendous value to our artists and their fan communities." Jesse Browner-Hamlin from Cage The Elephant says the listening party was “very easy to set up and even easier for our fans to use it…makes for a very communal experience,” and Marieke Weeda from Girl in Red says “It was a fun experience getting to listen together in this space and share our thoughts.”
Hangout launched on November 13 on the web, iOS, and Android, is available globally and is free to sign up. Hangout was recently showcased at Web Summit in Lisbon, where founder/CEO Joseph Perla unveiled his vision for a music-driven social platform, followed by a performance from Daniel Bedingfield.
“Listening to music together online will be so ubiquitous one day we won’t know how to live without it. Hangout is the very obvious future.” — Daniel Bedingfield
Users can join artist-hosted events or create their own Hangouts, inviting friends to a shared space where they take turns as virtual DJs, spinning favorite tracks and discovering new music. Inspired by the feeling of queuing up a jukebox or putting on a favorite album with friends, Hangout is a fresh social experience centered on community and shared musical passions. With customizable avatars, interactive chat, and a virtual dancefloor, Hangout brings people together in a vibrant space to celebrate music.
For Artists: Hangout offers valuable tools to connect with fans in meaningful ways while supporting their careers. Through Hangout, artists can host listening parties, album release events, fan exclusives, fundraisers, and exclusive merch sales. Events can drive streams, boost physical sales, and build excitement for tours and merchandise. With two interactive modes—chat and video or avatars—artists can select the format that best suits their community.
