Beatport and Youth Music Connect to Empower Young Electronic Music Creators
Beatport is proud to announce a new partnership with Youth Music, building on the success of Beatport's Diversity + Parity Fund and Youth Music's ‘Rescue the Roots’ campaign. Together, the two organisations are collaborating to support grassroots electronic music projects across the United Kingdom (UK).
The total fund of £60,000 will provide £15,000 in funding to four organisations, ensuring young DJs and producers, especially those from underserved communities, have access to the resources, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive in music.
Beatport also offers editorial exposure and marketing across Beatport's social media platforms to help organisations increase their impact and reach a wider audience.
An evolution of Beatport's commitment
Since its launch, Beatport's Diversity + Parity Fund has channelled investment into organisations championing underrepresented voices across the global music industry. This new collaboration with Youth Music marks the next step in that journey, highlighting the challenges young people face in gaining access to the industry.
"Electronic music has always been about community, creativity, and breaking down barriers," said Sofia Ilyas Chief Community Officer. "By partnering with Youth Music, we're not only investing in the future of the scene, but also making sure that young people, no matter where they come from, have a fair chance to be seen and heard."
A shared mission
“Young people from underrepresented backgrounds are uniquely creative because they’ve had to be. Their potential is increasingly blocked by the current funding crisis in grassroots music, limiting access and opportunities. Our partnership with Beatport will help address this, by providing more grassroots organisations with the funding and support needed to empower a more diverse and creative electronic music scene.” Ife Okonkwo, Partnerships Manager at Youth Music.
Why it matters
In March this year, Youth Music launched their ‘Rescue the Roots’ fundraising campaign to address the urgent funding crisis threatening grassroots youth music projects across the UK. Two in five (41%) of these projects are at risk of closure - an increase of 17% v 2024 (24%).
Youth Music will match every pound raised up to £1 million to create a total of £2 million to quickly distribute to youth organisations and emerging young creatives who are in urgent need of support. Looking ahead
Beatport and Youth Music share a belief in the power of music to transform lives. By investing in grassroots organisations, the partnership ensures that tomorrow's DJs, producers, and electronic innovators have the chance to grow in safe, creative spaces and take their place in shaping the future of global music culture.
