Bun B and Statik Selektah Record Their New Album “Trillstatik 2” Live on Twitch Using Samples From Tracklib
In 2019, producer Statik Selektah and rapper Bun B created and recorded the album “Trillstatik” from scratch over a 12 hour live stream from a Brooklyn music studio. The album featured guest appearances from Method Man, Westside Gunn, Fat Joe, Talib Kweli, Paul Wall, among others, and was released just 3 days after it was recorded.
Now Bun & Statik are back having just recorded the follow-up “Trillstatik 2”. The lineup of featured artists includes Big K.r.i.t., Dave East, Papoose, Paul Wall, Flee Lord, Smoke DZA, Boldy James, and more. This time they have also teamed up with sampling service Tracklib, from which they will use samples of original music for some of the songs.
“Trillstatik is a brave and groundbreaking musical experiment that we just had to be a part of. Sampling songs from Tracklib’s library also allows them to instantly clear the samples, which is of course ideal when releasing the album so quickly after recording it”, says Tracklib founder Pär Almqvist.
The creation of the album was live streamed yesterday on Statik Selektah’s Twitch Channel: www.twitch.tv/statikselekt
