Interview: $pend Money Kwam, Bronx Rapper/Producer and NxtNow Creator Partner

$pend Money Kwam NxtNow Creator Partner interview

NxtNow connected with the very talented Bronx based rap artist and producer $pend Money Kwam for an exclusive interview to discuss his recently released single/video “Dog Walk”, as well as his designation as the inaugural NxtNow Creator Partner.

Congratulations on the release of your new single "Dog Walk", and its accompanying music video. What inspired you to write the lyrics, and was it self-produced?

Thank you, that is much appreciated. It was great shooting that video, I had a lot of fun.

I really wrote the song to describe the grind of having to rely on self. More than often, strangers will support you before the people you know.

Regarding the "Dog Walk" music video, where was it shot and who directed it?

It was shot by my boy @maliceproduction. We shot it in Newburgh, NY. We actually had a really dope scene for it, but were unable to get into the location. Expect more from us two before the end of the year!

You are NxtNow's first Creator Partner; what does this designation entail?

I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity. I’m hoping to be able to provide a platform and voice for all artist and producers, as well as being able to help make improvements to streamline their experience.

Why would you recommend NxtNow's Music Accelerator to other artists and music producers, and how has it been helpful to you?

I’d say it’s a great way to find easy information for your needs as an upcoming artist. It’s really about providing information and actual resources that work. It’s been helpful to me as well.

With 2023 soon coming to a close, what are some of your goals musically in 2024?

I would like to get at least 2 more singles out as well as one last music video. I’m currently working on figuring out my next single.

I usually produce first and then shuffle through my beats to find my next single.

What recommendations would you give to a music creator who is just starting out and trying to figure out what direction to take in terms of their distinctive sound?

Believe you can and you are halfway there. Don’t be afraid to try different things to find different sounds.
