NN Song of the Week: “Bad Thing” by Morgan Keller

After teasing on TikTok and receiving a strong response from her audience, Morgan Keller has officially released the long awaited “Bad Thing”, our NN Song of the Week. The brain child of Morgan Keller and award-winning female, queer producer Kayla Diamond, this track will have you confidently strutting down the street in your headphones.

Inspired by Morgan’s personal growth and finding her own self-confidence throughout her formidable years while navigating her personal relationships, this song reminds Morgan, as well as her audience, that change and growth isn’t always a bad thing—despite the people who tell you it is. In her TikTok videos teasing the new track, she refers to herself as a ‘recovering people pleaser’ and reminds us that an increase in confidence allows you to set boundaries that you might have been fearful to enforce previously.

Sonically, “Bad Thing” is a sultry, slower tempo pop-rock track inspired by Taylor Swift’s Reputation production and layered with killer guitar licks. This is a natural progression from Morgan’s last release, “Old Habits” which amassed huge success last year. Kayla Diamond’s production gives the song a classic sultry pop essence, while Morgan’s voice offers a unique edge. This song is essential for anyone who has officially entered their ‘villain era’.
