When Saints Go Machine Reveal the Visual to “Chainsaw”
“One day in the middle of it all, on a treatment table. The images that appear, that open something. Is it a gate? No, it's something vibrant that makes daylight something other than just daylight. A chainsaw into the body, transforming into something almost religious. To use that word. Epiphany. Something that becomes visible, something that steps forward. This is what it's always been about. To explore what it is.”
There’s an alluring imagery to the description of the new When Saints Go Machine songs. Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild, Jonas Kenton and Silas Moldenhawer have created a new musical direction with ‘Chainsaw / Trying’, made to activate sound waves of people, inspired by the process of hands touching instruments, to amplify experiences of something real and human.
“More than ever, we want to make images burst through sound, creating a web of connections. That’s what’s truly valuable to us right now. Embracing a shape that’s round, full and yellow. A chainsaw into time,” the band says.
When Saints Go Machine is a symbiose of genres like techno, electronica, post-punk, hip hop, pop and club culture colliding with the lifelong friendship between Vonsild, Kenton and Moldenhawer. The trio have become internationally acclaimed, most recently renowned for their award-winning 2023-album, ‘Rosy’, also claiming their 4th “Song of the Week” on Danish national radio P3 with ‘Gone’ while headlining the most influential festivals this Summer.
The release of ‘Chainsaw / Trying’ will be followed by a nationwide tour of Denmark later this Autumn.
