Four rules for releasing music made with AI
- 01Make it on a paid planMany AI song generators only grant commercial rights on paid plans, and only for songs made while you were subscribed.
- 02Add your own workThe US Copyright Office won't register material generated purely by AI. Your own lyrics, melodies, vocals and arrangement are what you can protect.
- 03Don't clone voices or songsNever imitate a real artist's voice, or split stems from songs you don't own, for a release.
- 04Keep records and discloseSave prompts, receipts and project files, answer your distributor's AI questions honestly, and log every contributor on a split sheet.

Questions
Can I release music made with AI on Spotify?
Often, yes, if the tool's license allows commercial use on your plan and you don't imitate real artists or use songs you don't own. Some tools don't allow it at all. The NxtNow AI Music Tools directory gives every tool a rights check so you know which is which.
Can I copyright a song made with AI?
In the US, only the parts a person created can be registered. Material generated purely by AI isn't protected by copyright, so your own lyrics, melodies, vocals and arrangement are what you can protect.
Which AI music tools can I use commercially?
Mixing, mastering and audio repair tools that process your own recordings generally leave your rights unchanged. AI song generators vary: many only allow commercial use on paid plans, and some don't allow downloads or releases at all.
What do Music Accelerator members get that's not on this page?
The full directory: every tool's rights check, pricing, what it's best for and a direct link, with filters for category and release-safe tools only.
Can I suggest a tool?
