Dayyani and Dillistone Connect on Overtime

With the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Recipe For Love’, Danish-Iranian Dayyani cemented herself as a promising artist who is destined to reach far beyond the Nordic borders. Berlin-based Dillistone has already embarked on this journey with more than 150 million streams globally, and now the two electronic musicians are teaming up on the new single, ‘Overtime’.

I love discovering new music, and I’ve been a fan of Dayyani and her art ever since I saw her make a completely packed venue explode. She has something truly special going for her, and when she sent me the demo of ‘Overtime’, I knew we could create an incredible vibe together,” says Dillistone.

For Dayyani, it’s been an inspiring collaboration on multiple levels. She explains:

It’s always exciting to see what happens when two artist universes collide. But working with Dillistone has been truly inspiring and a lot of fun. I think with ‘Overtime’, we’ve created a pretty original dialogue between the melodies and a sound that’s both ultra-pop and clubby, almost like an inner discussion between the devil and the angel on one’s shoulders.”

There’s also an interesting duality in the theme behind ‘Overtime’ – a story about a troubled work/life balance and how difficult it can be to maintain relationships when you have a lifestyle and dreams that go a bit beyond the ordinary.

Dayyani made her mark on the Danish scene with drum’n’bass and breakbeats on tracks like ‘Blink Twice’ and ‘Nobody Kills Me Like You Do’, both of which were chosen as Song of the Week on Danish National Radio P3. On her long-awaited debut album, Dayyani incorporated genres like amapiano and bailefunk into her pop bangers, receiving top reviews from leading Danish music media.

Dillistone is internationally renowned for his distinctive dark, melancholic and always captivating electronic sound. In 2016, he was among the first to remix Dua Lipa as part of the official ‘Be The One – Remix EP’. His first hit-single, ‘Haunted’, peaked as #1 on Shazam, reached the Top 5 on Danish radio and paved the way for tracks like ‘Over You’, ‘Down’, ‘Lost’ and ‘Weightless’, making Dillistone one of the most streamed Danish artists of recent years. Last summer, Dillistone hit multiple EDM festivals across Europe and on Friday, April 11th he headlined the legendary Copenhagen-venue, VEGA.
