Mogal & Teck-Zilla Drop “Click Clack” Off Their EP “Away With Words”
The dope new track "Click Clack" is taken from Mogal & Teck-Zilla's new collab project 'Away With Words', which features the songs, “AWAY WITH WORDS INTRO”, “SNOOP”, “MAN-MADE MOUNTAINS”, “HEAD HOME”, “NEXT UP”, “RUSSIAN DOLL”, and bonus, “MAN MADE MOUNTAINS Remix”.
The project was born after the two shared musical ideas after meeting at different live shows in Falmouth. As the title suggests, the project focuses primarily on the art of rhyming and the ways in which words can be structured and rearranged to move listeners. From the solemn introduction, Mogal lays the foundation, preparing us of what to expect before he moves to the summer-tinged and playful “SNOOP.”
On “Click Clack” he ramps up the bravado with expertly crafted lines like “Click Clack Sick Raps fresher than a tic tac /My New tac-tic make the money do a back flip/Kick back spit phat knowing it’s a miss match /You ain’t even match fit I’m banging in a hat trick” where he shows a masterclass in rhyming. He continues on with a dash of reflection on “HEAD HOME” and takes us into his psyche on “MAN-MADE MOUNTAINS,” while flexing his verbal biceps on “NEXT UP” before closing it out on a high note with “RUSSIAN DOLL”, where he crosses the T’s and dots the I’s with internal rhyme schemes and off-kilter wordplay.
On the production side of things, Teck-Zilla creates a mix of dusty lofi/soul meets cinematic vibe with an analog aesthetic as the canvas for Mogal to paint his pictures. Each beat sounds vastly different and unique from one track to the other and keeps listeners guessing which way the song will go as he continues to raise the ante with a forward-thinking retro-inspired musical style.
